Most readers come by and read what I and other Examiners have to say and travel elsewhere on their internet journey. But about 1% of you decide to leave a comment, either in praise or fury.

I’ve been writing a series of guest posts at Watt’s Up With That, mostly dealing with how media plays around with the science to put a favored point of view forward. In the meantime, I was also posting comments on the weblog of Michael Tobis, a serious warmist alarmist.

I’d like to share with you the experience of being involved in discussions on both skeptic and warmist websites. The quick bottom line is that I find the skeptics far more congenial than the alarmists.

That is despite the fact that my position is as far away from theirs as it is from the alarmists. However, the skeptics, who abound over at WUWT (although they are not the only visitors there) are more cordial and even tempered. They are nothing like the flat earth denialist rubes that the media paints them as being. I have learned a lot over there, without ever once feeling hectored, insulted or harangued.

Over at Tobis’ site, Only In It For the Gold, it has been a different story. It really is the case that if you don’t buy their whole package (and I really do not), you are a default denialist whose heresies must be suppressed. The whole range of internet neuroses and borderline pathology is rampant in the comments section there, and I have been insulted, belittled, ridiculed and lectured at while the main points I have tried to make over there have been just unaddressed, perhaps (I think) because they don’t have the answers that suit their story line.

I’m a liberal Democrat from San Francisco most of the commenters at WUWT are conservative Republicans. But none of them cheap jerseys china took this difference as a cue to come after me with cyberbricks or cyberbats. Instead we basically discussed the issues.

Most of the commenters on Only In It For The Gold are liberal democrats like myself. They basically make me ashamed of us. There’s only so many times you can be called an ignorant pimp before your desire to have a discussion fades.

What I have been writing about at WUWT has been a short series of articles on how the basic symbols used in the media campaigns about global warming wholesale nfl jerseys have been misused. I have written on that frequently enough here that I didn’t want to repost them in this space, but you can probably guess what I had to say.

Instead, over at Only In It For the Gold, I have been responding to Michael Tobis’ posts about how wrong my writing has been, both at WUWT and here. Suffice it to say he hasn’t changed my thinking, nor I his.

I have a few more pieces I want to put up over at WUWT, but I will try and get some different material up here as well. I don’t want you to feel neglected.

But if you do, feel free to let me know in the comments.

The research shows clearly that one’s Left/Right stance is strongly genetically inherited but nobody knows just what specifically is inherited. What is inherited that makes people Leftist or Rightist? There is any amount of evidence that personality traits are strongly genetically inherited so my proposal is that hard core Leftists are people who tend to let their emotions (including hatred and envy) run away with them and who are much more in need of seeing themselves as better than others two attributes that are probably related to one another. Such Leftists may be an evolutionary leftover from a more primitive past.

“The research shows clearly that one’s Left/Right stance is strongly genetically inherited but nobody knows just what specifically is inherited. “

What a crock. The MSM and the two parties are the ones manipulating information and driving this wedge to the point of possible civil war. This is intended. People dont realize that both parties are working the same agenda, only diffrent aspects and strings of it are taken on by the two parties. This is what happens when idiots dont fact check what they are being told by ‘official’ sources.

” . First, it should be obvious that the manipulation of the messages isn’t coming from scientists.”

I read this in your last blog but did not have time to respond at the time. The question always at the back of my mind is; where is the message coming from? Who is organizing this? Is CAGW just something that caught the underlying mood of the West and took on a life of its own, or is it some fiendishly clever plot by the Masons, Illuminati, UN, Trilateral Commission, whatever? I hate conspiracy theories myself, but I sure would like to know what the devil is driving this monster! Does anyone out there have any information?

Yes, it is for the carbon credit trading scam. This way corporations can create shell companies that will not use their credit allowance and sell them to their parent companies so they can go on polluting legally. There will be no change in the amount of pollution, that is an unrealistic assumption as production and ultimately profits will suffer. The losers will be we the people who will not be able to afford to use these loopholes and will have our energy needs crushed. Another aspect, is the ones creating this fraud will have just created a new commodity to trade, and of course they know the game and will always have an advantage. We also know the market is manipulated constantly by their own admissions. They being the very bankers and internationalists who hold no fealty to any country. The drive to deprive us all of liberty and wealth is in full gear.

Tom, this experience has had to have a priceless effect on your core. I have always considered us to be more or less in the same boat, only coming from different core leanings and perspectives. I can’t buy into party lines any more. I consider them all obnoxiously, woefully incomplete, as divisions based only simple (and ridiculously simplistic) pluralities of divisions, as if all the weightier issues have been decided, when all too often they are simply co opted by both parties to the detriment of everyone. It leaves me wondering what the hell I am sometimes, as “Independent” is so nebulous as to be painted “undecided” or sitting on the fence as I somehow wait for one of two moronic positions to sway me, which utterly fails to describe it. A liberservabilitarian?

Keep up the good fight that you never wanted. Good stuff, Tom.

Another liberal Dem who doesn’t swallow AGW hook, line, and sinker? I thought I might be the cheap jerseys shop only one. I enjoyed reading your posts over at WUWT.

I find myself liking the fruits of free trade but not the calls for corporate welfare that seems to pass for free enterprise. And I stand amazed that the “environmental paradox” is perceived as a paradox at all; it shows zero sum game thinking: “of course if humans have better conditions plants and animals must have worse.” For me that both could have better conditions is a real possibility.

I have read your series on WUWT, and I liked it (which is not saying that I endorse all your ideas, but that is something different). I have also seen your comments on Bart’s. You probably have seen mine. I must say your description of the difference between the comments on WUWT and the warmist sites is striking, and I fully agree with your conclusion. Whatever one says, one is pontificated, belitteled, ridiculed, while none of the factual information one provides is touched upon. The use of really sick (sic!) metafors is striking, as you already did notice in one of your posts. Do we really need a metafor for describing what is happening to the planet? I do not think so.

But it is still fun do comment, regardless of the insults. It is a war and as soon as one places a compromising answer in the comments to AGW believers, the entire army of disciples comes around to chastise one as being the culprit. As such, they have become very predictable, with little innovation in their cheap jerseys responses. They are the rodents that are threading their daily round in the mill in front of the mirror . Silly

Tom, Many of the denialists are conservatives (like RSBL who posted here) who know absolutely nothing about the findings of climate science and have been fed a line paid for by Koch Industries (and others). They have been whipped up into a frenzy (foaming at the mouth like RSBL) convinced that global warming is a hoax and a lie. They care little about truth only about a world wide conspiracy of climate scientists to fool the world into thinking that we need to reduce carbon emissions. The conservative fear is that the complex problem of AGW will require big government solutions, as well as the world wide cooperation of governments. They see AGW first and foremost as a liberal plot. Let’s hope that RSBL and others like him do not own guns.

scratch a true believer and as we see here a conspiratorial wack job emerges.

AGW skeptics discern the difference between the hype of apocalyptic global warming the reality that nothing much is happening in the climate. And certainly nothing to be worried about that requires reshaping the world’s economy to subsidize windmill and solar panel salesmen.

True believers in AGW cannot deal rationally with the topic of climate science and cling to their falsified dreams of worldwide apocalypse instead of the data.

They resort to relentless lies about skeptics and who they are. Much like early era Catholic fanatics who killed off anyone who dared to disagree with their interpretation of the bible and the power of relics to cure the sick.Articles Connexes:
